“Mother Africa is crying for a revolution, crying for a renaissance, crying for a new dawn, a new genesis. The constant, persistent and negative publicity she has faced over the years has caused the world to view her with pity, to view her as incapable and hopeless. As Africans, we need to create a new perception, to present ourselves differently.
“We need to face, without looking back or blinking, the challenges confronting Africa, for it is only Africans who understand and can provide lasting solutions for her challenges. Africa is neither desperate nor dejected. She is a continent full of potential and hope. Constantly focusing on poverty and all its manifestations has caused us to turn a blind eye to the potential wealth and vast resources that are unexploited. It is time we concentrated and put our strength on the latter so that we might mitigate diseases and other potential losses. Innovative African minds must be activated, nurtured, and tapped to meet our challenges. It is time that Africa boldly steps out, finds her footing and fishes for herself instead of waiting to receive fish in baskets from wealthier continents.”
